With its emergency services program, CAP provides assistance to the US Air Force and other local, state, and national organizations.
Cadet and senior members can receive the training required to support CAPs emergency services function. There are many training opportunities offered throughout the year in the form of SARX (Search and Rescue Exercises) and squadron level training. Some things members learn:
- Preparation of ground team equipment (24/72 hours packs).
- Basic survival.
- Radio communications.
- First Aid.
- Search and Rescue techniques (grid/line search, signaling, beacon location).
Once qualified members may participate in actual search and rescue missions.
